Bowed

The world is changing, humanity sighs.
Corona, government measures, uncertainty.
One person set against another.
By what truth do you let yourself be led?
The gravity and pressure of the world pull you down, turn your eyes to the ground,
make you a slave of the situation and of the universal fate of man.
No escape?
And what if that line were God’s plumb line –
our times and our lives in His hand?
His law and justice which He pours out on earth?
Jesus has settled accounts with gravity – once and for all.
No longer earth bound,
but in Him heaven bound!
A bruised reed He will not break – Isa. 42:3
You are called to be free – Gal. 5:1
No longer a slave – Jer. 29:11-14
Be strong and courageous.
True to yourself and to the faith planted in your heart.
God gives me a way when I see no way out myself.
By ways that no one imagines
He makes His will known to me.

Design
The tension is expressed by the straight line of the chain and the curved lines in the figure, the curve of the base and the weight. Under the half-sphere of the base, which symbolises the image of the world, I have added extra weight by means of a brake disc. This brake disc has a horizontal base, which also contrasts with the vertical line of the chain.

Material
Beech wood, lead weight, half-sphere of meranti, copper chain, steel base.

Height
62 cm
