Gelukzoekers (Happiness Seekers): interview by Rynaldo

“Are you also looking for happiness?”
I am sitting with visual artist Wiebe van Dingen on a bench by the Schaapskooi (sheepfold) when my conversation partner springs his question on two unsuspecting walkers. Here in the peaceful woods of Hoog Buurlo, Wiebe feels at ease. “I like coming here,” says Wiebe. “In this place I find peace and I draw inspiration for new artworks. I use elements from nature quite literally: branches blown off trees, roots of trees felled by storms and strikingly shaped stones. What nature casts off I can use again in my work, giving it a ‘new life’.”
