Jewellery with light

To portray the theme LIGHT I work with various materials. Usually I do that with wood, but this time with silver, gemstone and gold. Opal is the gemstone I have worked here into a necklace. It is a fascinating stone in which the light enters your eyes at a different wavelength and colour every time.

I made this piece of jewellery because the light in the opal reminds me of a special event. This opal was brought up from deep in the ground. Then cut and polished and placed in the light. It reflects the light that comes from above in a powerful way. Not through mirroring facets but from the soul, the deep-lying layers and structures in the stone. I made the little pendant of silver and on the little bell there is a small gold plate. The stone is a solid opal. The little bell can ring as a reminder.
