Looking back on the woodland walk workshop

Two weeks ago I gave a workshop during a special church service at De Schuilplaats in Ede, the so-called ‘Festivalkerk’. I took a group of 25 people into the woods for a walk. During the walk we looked at growth forms in nature and autumn colours, and we paused at various routes and access roads. With each thing we saw, we reflected on what the Bible says about it.

When we began the walk, the gate to the woods was closed. In our lives, too, doors can be closed. But what does the Bible say about doors? Jesus Himself says that He is the door; whoever comes to Him is never turned away. And if God has a plan, no door remains closed. In this way we travelled together and let ourselves be inspired by nature and the Bible.

In the week before the workshop a lot of rain had fallen. During the walk it was dry. In fact, the weather was glorious! The responses were lovely, and the participants went home grateful.
