Bede-nød, the prayer nut in Danish

Every time I meet people from abroad, it is a great pleasure to see how they react to a small gift accompanied by an explanation in their own language. Whether they are holidaymakers, business people or refugees, they are always surprised. In addition to the 48 translations of the explanation that comes with the prayer nut, the Danish one is now available too. Hooray!😊 Click here to read the Danish text.

The prayer nut is an eye-opener, an opportunity to speak about matters of the heart. In the heart of every person treasures are stored up. For good people these are positive impulses, for bad people they are negative thoughts and motives. (Matt. 12:33) “Guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” (Prov. 4:23) With what intentions do you approach the other person? By being hospitable you create space, and you meet one another. Conversations arise that bring these wellsprings to light. They are no longer about superficialities, about what you have; they reveal who you are. In this broken world we need a remedy. Loneliness has to be broken through. Love, love must be expressed. Speak and write words that touch the heart. Look for words that connect, comfort and lift up. Words are like bridges that put an end to isolation. They bring depth to lifelong relationships. The prayer nut can be a means, a starting point, for giving expression to that intention. A bunch of flowers is fine too, but they often don’t last much longer than a week. Try giving a prayer nut as a gift (to yourself or someone else) and you will be surprised.
